One pesky problem is your laptop screen will turn off after a few minutes of inactivity. This is annoying when you are connected to a projector and then it turns the projector off too.
This is fixed by adjusting the Battery (called Power Saver on desktops) preference on your laptop. The icon you want looks like this:
